Michael is a Chartered Tax Adviser and has provided advice on tax matters across the EU Member States.
A former ward councillor (2010–2014) and Diversity Champion for the London Region (2011-13). Previously, a Parliamentary candidate for Lewisham Deptford (2015) and Camberwell & Peckham (2017), as well as a London Assembly Constituency Candidate (2016). A former Executive Member of the Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats (2003-2005) (2008/09) (2013/14) and Convenor for the Lib Dem Forum for Africa (2011/12).
A Party member since 2003, following the military invasion of Iraq. Michael is currently a Member of the Party's Immigration, Refugee and Identity Policy Working Group (2017/18).
Michael has served as interim treasurer for more years than he can remember.
