Jonathan Hunt
Executive Member
Jonathan joined the Liberal Party after becoming the founder chair of the Peckham Party in February 1974. Since then, he has filled several roles in the party.
He has been a parliamentary candidate in three constituencies and a councillor in Southwark. Jonathan devised and introduced the policy of devolving limited power to eight neighbourhood councils. A journalist by trade, Jonathan advised party chiefs on media matters before becoming business editor for two national papers.
A parent of two black children, he joined Ethnic Minority LDs and served as its general secretary for seven years. He is now a committee member of LDCRE, supporting Roderick Lynch.
Johnathan has served on groups and committees at every level, including those that formulate new policies for the party. While he has reduced party activities in recent months for family reasons, he believes the work of LDCRE is essential.
Having campaigned for many years for ethnic-friendly actions, he still believes the party has much to do to persuade black and other ethnic minorities to take our party seriously and to adopt more ethnic candidates and policies. He hopes he can continue to do so through the new exec committee.
