Anton Georgiou is a Liberal Democrat campaigner from London with a strong campaigning record on issues of social justice, housing, refugee rights, and equality. He was first elected to Brent Council in a famous by-election in January 2020, achieving a huge 29% swing from Labour. Anton has since built a reputation as a highly effective and dedicated local representative, delivering for his community. His grassroots work has deeply informed his political priorities, ensuring that lived experience underpins his advocacy.

Anton has been a leading voice on housing, advocating for a major expansion of council house building to tackle the national housing crisis. His policy positions are informed by frontline experience as an elected Councillor, working in a homeless hostel and in various previous roles in both the public and charity sectors. In Brent, he has successfully pushed for stronger protections for renters, greater accountability on housing standards, demanded greater support for leaseholders, and been a strong voice of opposition against the Labour majority administration.

A committed advocate for refugees and asylum seekers, Anton has worked extensively to promote humane, dignified migration policies and has campaigned nationally on refugee rights. This is personal for Anton, as his family themselves are refugees from Cyprus. He was also deeply involved in the campaign to keep the UK in the European Union and continues to believe Britain's place must be at the heart of Europe.

In addition to his local and national political work, Anton has served in roles in Parliament and the European Parliament. He is a strong proponent of greater diversity within the Liberal Democrats and believes the party must do better to reflect the communities it aspires to represent.
